Christmas Break

After 2 straight solid weeks of Guards Conversion, they let us out for the weekend. As usual, I spent Christmas catching up with the extended family.

My Sis, Dad and I delivered Christmas greetings to Vanna and Lyon, and spent the whole night playing with them. Also hung around to catch the United game, which was convenient since our cable was down. =) And little baby Ryan is postitively the cutest most adorable little nugget on the earth. Tried to climb me on several occasions. Hah.

Christmas eve was taken up by the pageant and then mass. Proceeded over to my Godma's house, which was really packed to the brim with the ol' merrymakers. Holed myself up in the room with Colin Mark and Nick for long parts and just listened to them jam. The three of them play some awesome guitar. And apparently Brad brought along that olllld mouldy tape of that jamming session. The one where I was all off-key and screechy, and we couldn't play together for nuts. Good stuff, great memories, nonetheless... ...

So right now as everyone else here at home are ironing shirts and bathing, I rush to log in another memory before the all-consuming monster that is book-in gets to me first. Soon I'll be cabbing back to camp from Christmas day @ Uncle Steven's. This has never happened before, Christmas' past have always been solely exclusive to family. I guess you could say the case true this year too, what with being a member of the Guards family ...

But no offense, there's no way I want to spend Christmas with that family. And God forbid that I'm activated for Guard Duty on New Year's Eve. (I'm on the reserve list). I can't even contemplate spending my last thirty seconds of 2006 drawing my rifle and my ammo as I prepare to resume my prowling detail.

That would be so un-festive.

And so it finally starts ...

From the moment I got my posting, I was dreading the day. And it's almost upon me. I've heard a lot of things about GCC, mainly bad things and siong things. I really wonder if I can take all of it.

But it's gonna be an adventure. After all, what's Army but a two year Adventure Camp? =)

The Commissioning Parade was nice. The parade was done nicely, all the cadets' hard work paid off. Went for dinner and lan, and then came home to the pleasant news that United did City over 3-1.

After going to Seoul Garden today(thanks ching and kp) with the Council people, I realise now why I can't lose any weight. 'Cos I binge once in a while. Dang.

The night has fallen, I'm lyin' awake.
I can feel myself fading away.
So receive me brother with your faithless kiss,
Or will we leave each other alone like this?
On the streets of philadelphia.

Why the FUCK can't I lose any weight?

Ever since the BMT phase of my ... BMT started, (there was a 4 week PTP phase), I've been 87 kgs. Heck, I'm only 4 kgs lighter than Titus 'Bumble'. If you think it's funny lugging around all that shit in the trunk, then piggy back me someday k? It really mystifies me sometimes. I don't snack in bunk, I eat regular, well-portioned meals, I exercise(duh) and I even go running whenever I get block leave or leave. Even after coming back from Taiwan I weighed the same.

And I'm still the same weight after this kinda gruelling week. We ran last night, we ran the night before, in fact for the whole week we ran like never before. Battalion Runs, Ippt, Endurance run in battle order, runs for fun, runs for the right to book out, run in the morning to wake you up.... SOC Route IPPT route East Coast Park Around the parade square. You name it man.

Sometimes you just wonder if things just slip their mind, or if they take you for granted. Or if they give a fuck anymore.

Departing from weightier issues, the January batch OCS dudes are finally going to Commission! Finally! Well looking forward to catching Ching Gaius Max Ben and the gang, along with old friends like David and Shaun. After all that mock-salutes way back then, I can now finally salute them legitimately now.

Best of luck in the Parade.

Khaki Beret here I come!
