Relieved, happy.
Deliverance Day, 27th February 2004. O levels results release.
I was so nervous and tense for the whole day... and the feelings where especiallly heightened while sitting in the hall, that familiar hall, waiting for the results to be released.
Lui gave his speech, and apparently we are the best academic batch of Josephians, ever. :P Finally breached the 12 point barrier for the School average L1R5. 11.9 ... Rock on! He also annouced that for History 2158, it was 100% A1s except for one person. Had like, 81% distinction for Biology, and something like 89% distinction for Emaths. :D
Oh yes and both the Top students were classmates or former classmates. Yup, Lai Yiming and Wu Yuying got 8 A1s each. And to think yuying was fretting that he would fail english earlier. ;)
Lol, lets cut to the chase.
English - A1
History 2158 - A1
Combined Human. - A2
EMaths - A1
AMaths - A1
Physics - A2
Chemistry - A2
Biology - A2
Chinese - B3
L1R5 = 8
=)
But arghhh... If not for me getting B3 for chinese I could call myself a straight A student .... :S
A few results of note... Mathew Yeo, yangwei, justin, a few others got 6 pts. Jonny, Sara, huangpeng, richard, keefe, got 7 points. Gaius got 8... and FIFI got 9!! Congrats... not bad for a ktv hostess... :)
Contented.

Wednesday
Woke up in the morning. Normally my first thought would be " What time is it and can I sleep some more? "
Today my first thought was " Can I not go to school today?"
So I answered myself " Yes ".
And I went back to sleep.
* Pon school *
Woke up in the afternoon, hahaha. LAzed around the whooole day. Supposed to study for Narindar's test but didn't.
Thursday
Woke up early in the morning, took the early train and bus to school. Bought a can of coffee. Settled snugly outside class with a cold can of booze ( haha, I wish, it was coffee lah. Or should I say cau-fey ) in one hand, history notes in the other. Haha, was studying at an extremely quick and efficient style when Fifi showed up. Then we started talking and talking and I was trying to stud in between gaps in our conversation. Lol, gave up in the end. Ended up talking abt O levels results and our previous sec schools.
The test went okay lah. Not sure if I answered correctly and all.
Lit lesson. Went thru a piece called My Half-borthers. Ended up talking about MOE policy and O levels results release etc. Glascow said he enjoyed the lesson but not from a literary perspective. :D Had Econs lect after tt. Boy, the science classes that joined us are really bloody noisy. Can hear so many of them having their own private conversations. :P Everyone was sturggling to keep awake during Mother Tongue later. GP. sigh.
During the break after that we stayed in class and we were making quite a bit of noise, well into 20 minutes of the break. Then suddenly, without any prior warning, the bitchface from the next class comes to ours and starts shouting at us and bitching. Made us stand outside her class. Fucker. what the hell man. All she needed to do was to just remind us gently/roughly/whatever. We would definitely keep quiet and stuff. After all, it just didnt occur to us that there was a class going on next door. Later when she walked past our class , i said loudly " Hey, dhanesh, I have an ITCH on my back.. can you please help me scratch my ITCH? "
I think she heard. Hope she heard.
For PE me and dhanesh asked Mr lim what we were going to do. He started giving all this cryptic answers and suggested that we were going to do some really tuff stuff. So I was like " Eh Dhanesh i think we better just shut up"
Turns out: He divided us in to groups and made us run medicine ball relays. wah really sucked man, everytime I got the ball I was like 50-80 metres behind all the other guys and had to catch up every round.
Sian.
Friday
Got back our GP test results. Got one of the higher scores in class... 23.5 out of 42. What the hell someone got 25 and was complaining so loudly when so many ppl failed or just passed. I really don't see what's so disappointing about getting a B for your FIRST test in a NEW subject. I got a B too, and I was bloody happy. And there she was moping. sigh. A little insensitive lah. Could see some ppl face not happy. :S
During Hist lect Aljunied had some problems with the laptop, AS USUAL! [ brother paul didnt believe me when i told him about all these problems... see lah? Sheesh, it happens almost EVERY lecture with Hist and especially Lit... what to do.. Arts teachers and technology... not a very good combination lah. =) ]
So he went out of the LT to get some technical help. Then as he went out the whole LT started buzzing lah. So I had this bright spark idea ...
" Now Class, you're getting a little too noisy here! " * in my 'aljunied voice' . The whole LT looked up, realised that it wasnt Aljunied, and burst out laughing. Lol. Anyways I dont think ppl know that i did it, except my classmates. :P Good thing anyways. Oh btw , i can do a nifty little impersonation of my hist teacher. :P The thing about impersonations is that you have to constantly hear that persons voice to be able to do it. Sadly, I lost the knack for my Kienji impersonation. =(
After school we had to go for some Religion class reflection thingy. I was nodding off throughtout the whole 1 and a half hour session. :P
Came home and watched survivor. Saw Rob make a fool out of himself while trying to be the hero.
Looks like you can't pretend to be someone you aren't ; unless you are aiming to be a fool.

Monday
Di dum di dum di dum di dum di dum.
Woke up, brushed teeth, showered, put on uniform. Stepped out of house, walked to train station, took train, took bus reached school.
Sang the national anthem and school song and took the pledge. Walked up to class. A lotta questions asked. Not too many replies. Lesson. Lesson. Lesson. Lesson. Lesson. Lesson. Double F*cking GP. Test some more. Wrote crap for the most of it. Lesson. Lesson. Go home. Yaaay.
Tuesday
Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey HEEEYYYYY!!!!
Somehow the day just started out better today. Saw jasmine hobbling to class with a sprained ankle. First instinct was to laugh and point rather than help. Hahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa .
Ethics lesson. Harhar Mother Goose Mary Goh [ MGMG :D ] told some pretty interesting accounts, and a few opinions too. Must admit, Mary Goh has some really interesting life stories... Maketh me wonder whether she maketh it up or not. At least a few lah.
Lit lecture. Struggled to keep Jasmine from drawing Bobby on my arm. SOMEBODY PLEASE BAN COLOURED PENS! ( Gah'men, hear me or not? ) 'What ting?' shirley ting was di-dum-di-dum-ing about Rhyme and rhythm. In her monotonous voice. Lol, in cjc lit they believe in creating realistic examples of Irony for you to observe and learn.
PE! Lol, had the impression we were going to play floorball. In the end we had another Isaac Lim 'adventure'. At first I was like 'bloodyhellsonofaguniwannabloodyhellplaysomebloodyballgame!'. In hindsight (pun intended), maybe it was a good thing going thru the tunnel.
First Mr Isaac brought us to Mount Rosie behind the school and we went gallivanting around the forest. Did some pushups on the forest floor. Felt so close to nature, equally close to the forest floor. Came back to school. Went to the front gate. If you have passed by CJC before, you would have noticed a big drain next to the main gate. Hmmm.
Recipe:
One crazy ODAC PE teacher
23 helpless teenagers.
A menacing looking drain which then transforms into a pitch dark tunnel
A funny grin on the afore-mentioned PE teacher's face
Result: 23 ppl crawling thru a pitch black, circular tunnel. Black shit/muck/crap/ooze/sludge/monkeyjuice swirling underneath. Small space. Big oaf. Cobwebs all over tunnel. Come out of tunnel with cobwebs stuck in hair, on hands, on back of t-shirt.
aye aye aye. Pete was first ( as usual ) and I was second. Behind me was Joy who kept molesting me, bumping into my butt. Hahaha. When we came out of the tunnel I was like ' Urrrrgggghhhhhhh! '. My back and legs were in a damn awakward position for damn long. :P ( btw, the tunnel spanned from the front of the school to the back. ) After that we landed up in this monsoon drain. We had to find a way to get out without the use of the ladder. Me and Peter and then later Dhanesh helped to boost almost everyone out. Khai and sewei just pulled themselves out. ahaha.
After the break, had Econs test. Wahaha, didnt study even though it was postponed one day. lol. After THAT, had to do chinese essay. Wah lau, i really lost my touch man. Die die. Sure got a lot of mistakes one. After THAT, we had Maths Lect. Yee was constantly picking on our class. Hahaha. We decided to take it as a joke. A bad, skanky one, with high pants, an equally high voice and spectacles, too. Then after a while came Lit double period where we had to do a PC of a poem by William Blake. muahaha. Doing this PC felt so much better than last week's one. Hahah, actually had soooo much stuff to write. Actually knew what I was doing!
Went home, took 156 with Joy, Wing and wing's ... 'friend'. Yah, met Thomas Wong in the bus. But he was in the back and I was in the middle. Tried to communicate by peering above the crowd and mouthing words to each other. Didn't work too well. Moved to the back to talk to him. Introduced Joy to him. He was like O_o ' So THAT'S joy.. the one dhanesh has been talking so much about.' haha... apparently ol' tommy wong knows quite a bit abt the going-on's in my class... lol.
Came back. Sister was playing this burnt CD ( burnt as in someone burnt it from a comp )... Had quite a few songs that I liked there.. mostly songs from about 4 years ago... Haha. ONe headlight by the Wallflowers, and the Sunscreen song/recital by Baz Luhrrman. Lol, that song was suuucccchhh a hit a few years ago. Maybe next time I will post the lyrics to that song. The lyrics are really good. =)
"But trust me on the Sunscreen."

Empowered!
What a sweaty day! =)
We had our X country today, and I was to run competitive. Haha.
Had a sorta fun beginning to the day. Had Lit first thing in the morn where augustine chan let us listen to this poem Lady of Shalot in celtic song... wah. It was quite coolo. Then afterwards me josh xiaoling and peter hung around and went to Maths class like 15 minutes late.. And then we put on this real contrite look... Haha. Yee didnt even scold us. =)
After that had lit lecture where yun ru was drawing lines on my arms with her ink pen while I was taking down notes. Haha. 'Battle scars' from Lit lecture. =o For Econs lecture geri was feeling super hyper and she started laughing at everything. I tried earnestly to get in the same mood, but I just wasnt feeling that way. Had barely 5 hours of sleep the night b4 lah.
Soon at 1.05 we were released. Had lunch with Choy at CJC and then went out with Peter and gang after placing our bags at his hostel room. Went to far east, got neoprints. :P haha... deprived childhood lah.
Reached Macritchie. Went immediately to 'lighten my load'. Did some stretching, and we were OFF at 3.40 pm. I ran and ran , then walked , then ran then walked then ran... and finished at 4.10 pm. Haha, so that's 30 minutes for a 5.2km run. Okay lah... not bad. =)
1T08 is the Top JC1 class for X country! =) . Haha, They counted the top 5 positions and we got top! I was 6th in my class. hahaha. lol. Xiaoling got 2nd for girls, jasmine got 16th, Joy got 20-smth; Khai got 7th for boys, and Sewei got 12th.
1T08!!! =)
The goat completed the race in one piece, and the pasture sprung 12 white and pink lilies.
Sunday, February 08, 2004
There was once a goat. Everyday he would graze in his small pasture. The grass was brownish and the soil was poor. The grass was sufficient to nourish him, but he was weak and lethargic for most of his life. Adjacent to his pasture was another, separated by a ravine. But this pasture was different.
The grass was lush, the soil fertile. Furhtermore, there were fruit trees and springs and all sorts of wonderful things. The lamb wanted oh-so-badly to cross over to the other pasture. But he was wary of the ravine. Everytime he ventured near the drop he would retreat with fear. The width of the ravine was negligible. The goat knew he could make the jump. But everytime he considered taking the leap, paranoid thoughts about missing the jump and plunging into the ravine hijacked his courage.
So the goat thought and thought about it. He fantasised about life on the other side for days on end. But he never took the leap.
And one day came. The conditions were ripe. The soil was firm, the wind blew gently, egging him on.
Did he make the leap?
We shall see.
In the meanwhile, the goat has to run competitive cross-country on monday.
