Success is relative. It all depends on whether u understand relative velocity or not.
damn that freaking relative velocity. It's the first Amaths topic which gave me so much trouble since Remainder Theorem, which was the first topic. It's really crappy man. It's like, abstract, and you either get it or you don't. haha, but on the bright side, weichi has been asking me how to do questions. !!!!!!!! haha, when weiqi doesn't get the topic and you do, you can;t help feeling a little proud.
Yea, did the NAPFA 5 stations today. don't really want to talk about it. =p I had a stomachache, so I went to, erm, do something about it. When I came back, they had already completed one station, the situps. Irwan just gave me 40 in the end. !!!! wtf la.... i could have done more than that.... basket...
During chinese period, we watched the continuation of the chinese movie we were watching last week. It's about the opium war somewhere in the 18th century la.
At first we all thought it was quite lame, but it started to get interesting after a while. What struck me was how this official was trying his best to ward off the opium scourge, but in the end was betrayed by fellow officials and was sentenced to exile by the emperor. Even when your intentions are good, people may not view so.
Then I had to go for Detention class. :( The consolation was that noel had to go too, so I had some company. Finished maths, physics homework, then i took a solid half an hour nap. I felt so refreshed after that. :D
Maths and chem test tmr. Chem test should be easy, but it's the maths one i am worried about...

Confirmed ... now what?
Confirmation yesterday. Now I am supposed to be an 'adult catholic'. But I am kinda clueless larh... not sure what to do.
Us guys were supposed to wear a white shirt, black pants and an optional tie. I picked out this kewl tie for $10 bucks from some departmental store near my house. Not bad, it kinda caught my eye. When I reached the church, it was really weird seeing everyone was dressed so formal. The guys all looked pretty much the same throughout, 'cos everyone was wearing the same stuff, basically. The girls however, each looked different. There were some interesting outfits on display, and I felt a little amused at how prim and proper they seemed on that day, as compared to normal cathecism classes and all. Well, to give them credit, they all looked good. maybe bordering on pretty. :o
We had a little prayer and reflection session b4 starting the mass. I felt sad, and a tinge of regret. Sad, because I am 'leaving' a group of friends, albeit not my closest, but nonetheless friends. They say friends are forever, but in this case... maybe not. The tinge of regret is for not making an effort to get to know some of you guys well enough. I think I've said this before.
Well, we arrived for the mass and I sat down beside my godma ( we had reserved pews. everyone else had to stand. hehehehe). The mass was kinda long, twice as long as normal. This was partly due to the fact the that there were 132 people to receive the archbishop's blessing and the Chrism ( sacred anointing oil), and partly due to the fact that the archbishop was as slow as a tortoise, and gave an exceptionally long homily on the technical aspects of the gifts of the holy spirit. -yawn-. I felt like I was attending a lecture, and had the misfortune of getting the oldest, most dreary and drowsiness-induce-able lecturer.
Look guys, I've found a cure for Insomnia!!!
After the mass, we the confirmants were invited up to the altar for a mass photo. It didn't work out, there were so many peeps that about half of the people were blocked by someone else. I, on the other hand, could be seen clearly above the canopy. ( There is a term for trees which rise above the canopy... ah... yes, Emergents) Guess I could be what you would call an Emergent? hee hee. anyways, 'cos there were so many people, the photographers had to stand waaaayyyyy back, so I don't think anyone's face can be made out once the photos are developed. I smiled at my crazy mother who was waving crazily at me from the back of the church.
yar, then after that I went down to meet my friends that came for the mass lah[ thanks for coming]. So sweet, one of them actually got me a little something. I like it when people get me Little Somethings, 'cos I don't have any of those. ;) Yea, they all came down from the STC carnival. Gareth was like.. typical slacker kinda clothes... wearing some kind of singlet ... to church.... thats not the way. Tried to invite gareth, ben, mat and matt ( haha, yeo and kong) back to my place for a *post-confirmation bash* :D but they politely declined. Met up with my family and my godparents and my godparents' family and some of my cousins[colin darren brad alli charmaine lynn] and took a nice group photo beside the statue of St. Mary at the church concourse.
When we got home, my sisters, my mom and I dished out food for the visitors. There was chicken pie, roast chicken, satay, bread, salad, and a nice pasta dish made by my elder sis. She has been working on that dish for a while, and surprisingly, it wan't -that- torturous to be her guinea pig. ;p Godpa went back home to ferry his wife and two sons over. The two of them are so cute, and godpa's recounts of their little exploits were really amusing.
Soon everyone went home as it was a school day the next, and we were left to clear up. I was left to open up some presents ( heehee ). Got a card and a nice little cross ( the one which stands on its own) with a kewl inscription on it, an armenian style cross ( kewl!!), 50 buckeroos, and a few cards and such.
Ah, it's great to be a teenager.
Today
Racist-harmony day
ho-hum. racial harmony day. I wore a maroon-red tee borrowed from prakeeeeesssshh. This year's racial harmony day was not as nice as the previous years' ones, partly due to the stupid decision to have this mass games thingy. It kinda diverted everyone away from the main attraction, the parade square. I was leading this crummy S2 class who couldn't cooperate, and weren't cohesive at all. They even forfeited their last event as they wanted to get something to eat. sheesh. but can't blame them. The games took up 3 freakin' periods. Thats the whole of their -extended- recess. I woulda done the same thing. haha! the greatest part about that game was that we, 402, beat 401 at Kabbadi! hahahahahahaha.... I heard that it was down to gerard from 01 and barbarian from 02... and since kabbadi isn't exactly a gentleman's sport, you know the outcome... :D
After I finished leading the class in their games, I went to the parade square at 11.30 to find that -horrors!- everything was gone. The stalls were being kept. argggghhh! The last few years, there was a real COOL carnival-like atmosphere at the parade square.
Food and stuff would be sold, teachers and students alike would be making fools of themselves at games as diverse as capteh and DDR. Best of all, there would be teachers and students performing -somewhat- spontaneously. Everyone would look out for the guitar pro Sirhan, and we would flock round to see him play. The TLS boys would come and do an impromptu dance, teachers would be dragged up by mobs of vengeful students to perform a song or two, and all that while, teachers from the history department would be touting for donations. We wouldn't want to go back to class.
Alas.
It wasn't there today. Or, at least I did not get to experience it. dangnabbit. curses. All because of the stupid games thing!!! arggghhh.... svdp... NE department.... can't even leave my racial harmony day alone... that also must screw up....
sigh. should just go study for the Amaths and chem tests on wednesday. grrrrr.

Annual Inter-School Track and Field meet
Helped out with the leading of the cheers today @ the national stadium. Main reason was because I got to leave at 11.20pm. haha, kidding lah, i'm not THAT slack. We hung out in the canteen, marking our "banderas" ;p with 'SJI' using liquid paper. Ben wore his from then 'till the end of the day, and had a little band of green colouring across his forehead at the end of the day.
the cheers were good, the coordination was much better than last year's. But I can't help feeling a little disappointed. About half of the contigent looked distinctly uninterested.
You cheer your throat sore, for the glory of the school, but sometimes it just doesn't seem worth it.
We won a few golds. Yusoff won the C div 100m, and helped our school overturn last to first in the C div 4x400m, which we won eventually.
Quite disappointed really. Deflated.

Racial Harmony, Deiiii.....
Yah, volounteered to help out at this funny carnival/fair at Orchard today... Keefe said that they needed extra manpower, so I joined lah. Oh, the cip hours helped to make the decision too...
They made us wear Ethnic costumes ( I borrowed a Tee from Prakash ). Me and Yangwei teamed up to sell some stuff and collect Donations. In 2 hours, we collected about $80 worth of sold goods and donations. So that works out to...
$80 divided by 2 people, divided by 2 hours = $20 per hour. Not bad...
Took the NEL up to Serangoon, just for kicks. The journey was very smooth, and the stations were quite futuristic-loking. Took 22 back to AMK from serangoon.
Tired.

yup, nothing significant has happened in this week so far.
Ran 2.4 on tuesday. Had chem lessons after school yesterday. Normal lessons ended at 1:40, while the chem lesson was scheduled to start at 2:15 . so for that half hour, about one-third to half of the class stayed in the classroom.
Bored students + visualiser = Fun!
We were messing around with the visualiser as usual. Pointing the visualiser back at the class, flashing selected pics from time magazine, showing that pic of 'cedric's cousin' ( which we unfortuantely didn't do yesterday as cedric wasn't in ), etc. Gaius was flashing some pics from the most recent issue of Time. ( britney spears, that lady on the cover) when we got bored and put the class photo on. We were zooming in on each of us individually and giving a short 'commentary' on that person. =) *keeeeeeefffffeeeeeee!!!!!!!*
Then, we noticed something. We noticed that Kong and Kwang, who were sitting next to each other in the photo, actually look BLOODY ALIKE! the resemblance is uncanny!!! hahahaha. The same horizontal half-smile, the same face shape! we spent at least a minute or two belly-laughing at the sight. Then I got this bright idea. I enlisted choy's help ( *choyyyyy!* ) and cut out these little speech balloons out of foolscap paper. Yah, placed them on the photo, and now Kong was saying " Daddy??? " and Kwang was saying " Son??? ". =) another minute of belly-laughing. We then put a label on Fam which said ' Granny '. =o .. so mean, we are.
kwang came in, saw the thingy and look kinda amused in spite of himself. I asked him "Sir, do you see the resemblance? it's uncanny!" Then he replied, "No lah, my head is straight up while his is bent sideways slightly."
We were like, wah lau, what is he trying to say? That's not the way lor. =)
oh yah, on monday and tuesday we played hangman with the 01 buggers during chinese lessons, since MOST of us ( haha mathew yeo... *stix tongue out* ) dont have to take chinese until JC. Monday, they beat us like 5-1 or something. Tuesday, it was 5-3. Today, we managed to beat them 6-1. =0 so happy. We managed to guess a word that we had never heard of before, tocopherol. Appparently, it is 'Any of a group of closely related, fat-soluble alcohols constituting vitamin E and similar compounds'. sutpid jonny, there weren't supposed to be technical terms. and furthermore, he didn't even know the meaning of the word. thats not the way. =(
Today was what we like to call 'slacccccckkkkkkkkkk lar! ' Two periods of 2158, where mara asked us to help solve a problem the UN mock conference team was facing. They represent cameroon, and the western nations are seeking to set up a new oil regulating body independent from OPEC. ya... and cameroon are trying to disuade oil-producing countries from joining it since apparently the western nations would dominate it lah. so complicated. glad i didnt join it. but going this sat to watch the conference though. Had one period of physics after that. just corrected answers from assignment book. for SS we had another one of those pointless forums. RME, had a talk on the christianity by Friar Mike. For chinese, we just played Hangman la.
Stop over at Thomson to help peter hand a set of history notes over to Daren. came home, diligently ;) did maths homework and chem too, plan to do history notes now.
It's starting to get serious now.

Youth Day
My school celebrated Youth Day today. As part of the celebrations, we were allowed to wear our own clothes, provided we pay 2 bucks to SvDP. yeah, came to school and saw all the poser little sec 1s and 2s. =p Saw a few in T-shirt, berms and guess what? White socks and shoes. :O
Didn't bother to wear the outing clothes. 1, had O level oral today. Don't want the examiners to die from shock. 2, do I look like I would pay the 2 dollars?? Haha, poor kapsa( pravin) raj got asked so many times whether he ' was sure he paid the 2 bucks? ' .... haha. His reputation preceeds him. =) When I heard that barbarian was wearing his own outing clothes, I half-expected him to turn up in loincloths and vines. =p
Ah, but it gets worse.
Some smart-ass teachers got some smart-ass brilliant idea to dress up in the uniforms of their respective alma maters. There were about 6 or 7 ( female ) teachers dressed up in the IJ pinafore. yucks. Some of them looked a little weird lah. What to expect, grown woman in clothing meant for teenagers. And the rest just looked plained -yukky-. Lack of other appropriate words. esp. -gasp- fam. my gosh. Let me try to explain the severity of the situation then. When she was making her way thru the crowd of boys to the back of the assembly area, it was like the parting of the red sea. Why? 'cos everyone bent over to the side to puke. *that bad, ok*
Alvin Chua was wearing SJI uniform. My gosh. Now there is no need to imagine how nerdy he looked back then. Come to think of it, he still does! haha, so he was walking along the 'bridge' that connects the staff room area to the sec 4 block, I decided that since he was dressed like a schoolboy, I hollered out ' Heya Alvin !' out of my class window. He looked around startled, but luckily he didn't see me.
When fam came to english class, she got gaius to set up the visualiser. Then, horror of horrors, she showed us pictures of her in her youth. Some of my classmates were astonished that the camera had already been invented at the time of her youth. Yah, had a great time making fun of her in her photos. There was one where she commented that " That was then, when I was still an ugly duckling. " And then I asked ( loudly ) " And now you are ... ? " =) And then there was a photo of her and d'costa ( when she was still in-training). I recognised d'costa, but I genuinely didn't reccognise this lady with really bushy hair. So I asked Fam " And who's that with the mane? " . And then I realised that it was her. =o
yea, we all had a good laugh at those few foolhardy teachers bedecked in school uniform. Daisy chia was in MGS ( sailor girl) uniform. I was at the water cooler o/s 301, and she walked in to class. The uproar was tremendous. Could hear people laughing and shrieking with delight. =) I tell you, sji boys can be soooo mean sometimes.
After school had oral. Had a stomachache, so had to take a quick dump. Came back feeling lighter ( in spirit and in body ) and was pretty set to take my oral! while we were waiting me and gaius were cracking jokes, and poor keefe was trying his best to stop laughing. Mrs Amy Chua actually came up to us and advised us to take it more seriously. We sombred up for a while, but couldn't resist after a while. We were talking about silly stuff. Like which hokkien swear words to scold the examiners, thinking of ridiculous reasons for them to take away points from us ( two eyebrows; minus one mark ) . =D But the exam didn't go too well for me. :(
After that went to play soccer for about an hour or so, and then went to Tanglin to get a drink. Met xiao-yen there. He used to be my senior at throwing. He was kinda disappointed when i started to miss trainings, and was too when i quit. He was telling me about JC life and I was telling him about the latest happenings in SJI. He's in CJC currently. He was very pissed at Roger leaving, and stopped eating for a while when I told him that rosa lau came to school in ij uniform. After a while gareth ( pronouced ' gi-yeeaaa-ref ' ) and Ben ( have been calling him BroadBen since he got broadband) came over and talked to him. had some interesting conversation about sji and teachers.
Sooo tired. Better sleep early and get ready for Listening compre tmr.
You're the super-slacker!! Homework? What's that? Studying? Not in your vocabulary. You hardly study and almost never do your work and yet, by some divine intervention, you're still surviving. And you come to school so un- often, your teachers have pratically forgotten that you even exist. Go, you slacker, you!!
