Today's whole-day-chinese-lesson was okay. didn't do too much actually. Heng was kinda slack, and we could tell he wasn't really keen on teaching. He looked as if he wanted to take a walk. He always asked us "what period is this?" He meant that under the normal timetable, which teacher would come in? But we always replied "Chinese!", and I think he finally got the point.
He was like, disturbing those 410 guys that were walking to the toilet, calling them in and talking to them. slack There is something about those 410 guys, everytime they walk to the toilet they seem to do it in s-l-o-w motion.
Did an essay after recess commenting on some teenage guy who hacked blah blah and was caught blah blah blah. Basically all the information we needed was given to us on a handout so all we had to do was to write in down on paper. We had time to have a few rounds of Hangman before Kwang came in to class.
He went up to Gaius and said that gaius had done very well in his Chem ( or so I have heard). But there was this look on his face that suggested he was being sarcastic. Earlier in the day poor Gaius was told by Tan Eng Hong that he had failed his Amaths. But the thing is teh tends to remember things wrongly. It's like that when you get old lah. So poor Gaius should be feeling real insecure now. :(
During lunch had a fun chat. Me, gerard, max and daryl related our memorable experiences of sec 1 and 2 life to gareth and shaun. They were kinda amused. We had a very interesting time in sec 1 and 2. :) We told them about the chinese teacher incident ( see post on 25th May), and even about the max walkathon incident. ( This one is a little too R-rated to be featured on this blog. )
Realised that there was no svdp, but that **** Louis told me there was. Ended up staying back and doing something that I didn't really want to do. But I'm doing it anyway, since that someone needs my help.. and since it's regarding CF, i think i better help him.
Came home, read newspapers on my bed. The bed is comfortable, and there is a really powerful fan. Thus I ended up dozing off inadvertedly. =D Woke up at 10 pm at night. Die man, don't know how i am going to fall asleep tonight. My mom said she tried to wake me up in the evening, but then again, she would have been better off climbing Mount Everest. Once I fall asleep, I fall asleep. =D
Found out recently that I can type real well without looking at the keyboard. In fact I am doing it now. I never used to be able to do that. Real proud of myself. =)

Noon - You are pleasant, friendly, and an overall nice person. You enjoy the energy and activity of the daytime, and tend to be very productive.
Hmm.. the part about being very productive... is a lie.

Oh my gosh. Today saw the first day of our intensive preparations for the Chinese O Level exam on 10th June. That means that we have lessons as normal, except that every single period is devoted to chinese. groan. Heng came in to class, and immediately started lecturing us about how we didn't do well, and how perfect 403 did soooooo much better than us. He then gave out our exam scripts nonchalantly, the way he gives out our normal assignments. I was actually shocked when he called my name and I saw my Exam Script in my hands. I was half-expecting some ancient piece of assignment he was giving back to us after having taken an eternity to mark. I got 61% overall. Not too bad, considering the top mark in class was 71%. 4 guys from my class failed man, wtf.
During our 45 minute break ( the only good thing about this arrangement), Kong was mashing up the leftover pineapple pieces in his desert bowl. Yangwei asked if anyone wanted the egg yolk from his plate of rice, and Kong swiped it into his bowl. He then began to mash the egg yolk together with the pineapple. It looked kinda good, like Caesar's salad :D. I ate it. Haha, the look on some faces was worth eating that disgusting crap. It tasted a bit weird at first, but I got the hang of it. And then it started to taste good. MmMmmMMmm .... =D
After the break, we were to do two letters. While we were doing the two letters, we were having lots of fun too. By we I mean Me, Gareth, Gaius, Chris and Daryl. When someone would ask how to translate a word from English to Chinese ( that's how we do chinese compos. Think in English, translate to chinese) , we would come up with some lame, direct translation, which irritated the hell out of the guy but delighted the rest. And towards the end, inspired by Paul, we began to talk loudly in our Michael Jackson voices. ;) Haha, I swear, there is no one on earth better to make fun of than Wacko Jacko. And there is no one else on this earth who has successfully completed the transformation from black man to white woman. But of course, we eventually managed to complete all our work in the designated time.
Then we went home! We survived!

Over at last
Woohoo! Today saw the completion of my last paper for the MYE, Biology! I found it easier than I thought it would be. Maybe I won't fail after all! ;)
Hardest Paper A Maths Paper 2
Longest Paper Physics
Most gruelling History
Most likely to fail Biology
Easiest paper E Maths
After today's Bio paper, me and my gang ;) went to Plaza Singapura to catch The Matrix. I realised that I was wearing : A blue pair of Jeans, A blue shirt, blue shoes, carried a blue bag, wearing a pair of blue specs. I'm Blue all over! haha.
The Movie was okay, special effects very good. But I felt there were too many fight scenes, and the plot was not well-developed. I got the feeling that the Wachowski brothers were sacrificing plot time just to fit in the fight scenes. What a pity, because the show really could have been executed better.
Anyways, we had a typical good time trying to 'obscenise' everything in the movie... while trying not to piss people off at the same time. At the end where we sat through the credits to view the trailer for Matrix Revolutions, we were reading through the credits. We found out that the producers even bothered to accredit people such as " The Wachowski Brothers' Driver" and " Labourer" etc. Just when we we were wondering when the credits would end, someone quipped that they would also accredit the actors who featured in this mass celebration in the city of Zion. Ha! Imagine...
Zion party reveller #1 .....
Zion party reveller #2 .....
=)
We had quite a bit of fun today.... Can't wait for Return of the King and Revolutions to come out.. should be a blast :D
Chocolate cake will never taste the same. =D

Was reading my friend's blog recently, and it reminded me of an incident that sticks in my mind.
It was in sec 2, one of our teachers was absent. The relief teacher for the first period was a very *popular* chinese teacher, so I moved my chair to a friend's place, with the pretense of seeking help with some homework, but in reality to get a better... vantage point. ;) So after 1 period, another chinese teacher came in for the next. She came in looking realllyyyy pissed. She came up to me and asked me to get back to my place. She said in in a 'don't-mess-with-me' kind of look on her face, so i duly scooted back to my place. Then behind her, our good friend yangwei, tapped Dhanesh's shoulder to say something to him. She suddenly turned around and started shouting at him for no apparent reason. While scolding yangwei, her eagle eye spotted something else happening halfway across the class. Omar was passing a pen back to Zenas ( don't get me started on zenas) . * gasp! * The Audacity!
She flew across the class and started screaming at him in Chinese. Omar. In chinese. Crazy woman. And even I could not really make out what she was scolding him for. Omar isn't one to take any crap from anyone. So he showed her the finger. ..!.. I am not sure if she saw it. But anyways, she deserved it.
I was thinking at that time" woah, I bet she had a real screwed-up day. Or maybe the exact opposite." =)
She then took Yangwei and Omar away, and from what I gather, she further reprimanded them. For being 'disrespectful'.
Haha, memories like this just make you laugh. She was then transferred to RGS. Apparently she would fit in there. :) [just joking!!! I dont want any RGS people coming after me ] Sometimes I would see her while taking bus 105 home. And I would try my best not to laugh. =D
I still get the impression of a madwoman when I see her on the bus.

Waiting for Tuesday. Our last paper! Haha, the sadistic school administrators sure saved the best for last! Biology!
Will be catching Matrix reloaded. My classmate figured out that if this second installment is called Reloaded, then the first one had to be called Discharged.
I am sure that if we go and take some kind of census, practically half the sec4 population will be going to catch Matrix on Tues. We should collaborate and book a theatre for ourselves. Then before and after the movie can sing the School Rally. =) Oh, and we will sure to have some Lan-gaming fun! CS! Battlefield! hahaha~
Everybody's good friend Neo Yang Wei claims that he plays Neo in the movie. Well, if that is true, then I conclude that the make-up artists on the set of The Matrix are miracle-workers. =D
I don't like Morpheus at all. That's why I use kazaa. =D
Gotta go do some hardcore Biology mugging! Now!

There were these three Chinese men who migrated to America, Chu, Bu and Fu. Chu decided to Americanise his name, to fit in with the crowd. He called himself Chuck. Bu thought it was a good idea, and called himself Buck.
Fu went back to China.

The 3 Is
Idiocy, Ignorance, Inability
Idiocy : Extremely stupid Behaviour
Ignorance : A lack of information or knowledge
Inability : To be unable
Do you see some 'I' in You??
==============================
Today's chem exam was so-so. It was kinda tricky, not as straightforward as I would like it to be. =( However, I think I will do okay, considering I didn't study for the latest chapter, alkanes and alkenes. I was contemplating last night whether or not to study. I decided to screw it, and ended up watching Chemistry instead of studying it. :D nah, just tried to make a little joke there. I was actually watching American Idol. In my opinion Clay and Ruben are equal. I was actually rooting for Kimberly Locke the underdog the last few weeks.
I swear. We have an Incapable form teacher. Yes. Fam. She can't do simple things like collect exam scripts right. And she mispronouces so many of my classmates' names wrongly. Poor prakash. She pronouces his name as Prakesh, but with a horrible whiny drag on the last syllable. So now I call him Prakkkkeeeessssshhhhhhh in the most nasal tone I can muster. Haha. Btw that joker can do a sidesplitting imitation of CF. haha. Must have gotten into a lot of trouble to have all that time to observe and imitate him.
There is this really powerful fan in the front of the class that has just been installed a while ago. If you have not noticed, the last few days have been really hot and mucky. Apparently some of my classmates complained about the heat and the school installed the fans. I tell you, the fan looks like it was recycled from the propeller of a submarine. I bet if we lined a few of them in the same direction we would have the first Airborne Secondary School in Singapore.
Biology on monday. Gonna slack today and do some hardcore mugging tomorrow. Yep. Me. Mugging. Believe it.
" The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast. The slow one now will later be fast. As the present now will later be past. The order is rapidly fading, and the first one now will later be last. For he that gets hurt will be he who has stalled. For the times they are a-changin'. "
wah lau. I got cresent girl's school at first. then i tried two more times, with the same result. finally i got this, and i settled. :(
This is not good. perhaps this is some kind of sign.... :D Luckily my friend's dad is a plastic surgeon! wahaha... joking .. dont get alarmed....

9 days without blogging. Well, forgive me! I was preoccupied with this little thing called the Midyear Exams. The papers up till now have been pretty okay, except for the geography elective paper, in which I did not know what I was writing 80% of the time. :(
Some people said that the Amaths paper today was Hard. I disagree. It was quite flexible, and could bend and fold rather easily. It actually felt soft. strange.
I finished my History paper today, and boy, is my right hand sore! 22 pages of cold hard facts ( and some analysis) in Two and a half hours! Sometimes I wish I didn't choose to take History, at least not this course. The sheer amount of content is mind-boggling. I can't imagine studying all the topics for O levels.... :P Well, I think I did okay for History, considering I started studying 2 days ago. I studied for 5 questions, and there you go, those exact same 5 questions came out. :P Well, a little hardcore-spotting wouldn't do anyone harm right? ;) Well, enough about german-magyar power blocs and perestroika, now it's time for Polymerisation, Isomerism, the likes! Chem exam time! :D
Argh.
The last few days have been really boring, just study study study. Oh well, gotta go revise for chemistry now. Chem seems so lightweight compared to History. :D

X2
Call me slow, call me whatever you want. I just catched X men-2 today. It was a kind of last minute decision, my sister and I just went downstairs, bought the tickets and watched it. I must say it was a very good movie, with a very good plot. Shan''t say more. Don't want to spoil it for the few of you who have not caught it yet.
Earlier today in school, Mr Heng went ballistic on us. During chinese class, he had expected us to bring our exam papers for him to go through with us. Most of us forgot to, and he left the class once he found out. We were feeling a bit guilty, but after a while we got round to our doing our own things. Gaius, kong, choy, dicky, and chunxiang were playing Hangman, except this time we called it HengMan. :P I guessed the word correctly thrice out of the six times we played. :D
yeargh! Gotta go file all my stray worksheets and tidy up my room.

Fondl... Founder's Day
Today was Founder's Day! As usual, we had mass in the morning, followed by a loooong celebration in the hall. Then there was the giving out of Academic prizes for the year 2002. There was this particular guy from sec3 who was 2nd in English, and Higher chinese too. Impressive! You rarely get people who are effectively bilingual. I'll never be able to achieve something like that. :(
And then, of course there was Hokito. He is an Indonesian scholar from 401, and he won a lot of prizes. Ist in Physics, 2nd in chemistry, 1st in Biology, 1st in A maths, and a few more I cannot remember. sialah, before Roger read out the list of awards he was going to receive, he said something to the tune of " Now, Listen to this." :D
Quite a few of my classmates received prizes. Our class did this thing where instead of cheering them, we shouted out their name in an 'accusing tone', like we always do in class. ;) The rest of the school thought we were weird, but who cares? At the end of the celebration, Brother Mike scolded the whole school for 'not behaving'. But for some unknown reason, he singled out Thomas Wong and mocked him in front of the school. That was really uncalled for. I mean, it was funny in the beginning, but as I think about it, by singling out and humiliating Thomas, he was doing the exact same thing he scolded us for. What a shining example to the rest of us.
Fastest Fittest Fattest Fintanites The Founder's Day Inter-House relay was cool. I was involved in the 8x80 m race for *ahem* Taf boys. I maintain that I have heavy bones and a stocky build.
We( Fintan house) won both races for C and B division in the end.For the C div, we were the only house with a full team, so the guys won without having to run. :D As for the B div race, We were 2nd until the 5th runner ( that's me) overtook the guy from Lawrence House. :P I was trailing him by a few metres when i received the baton and managed to overtake him by a few at the end to get the lead. We never lost that lead and went on to win.
We took a photo, and Ben( the House Captain) left his camera on a bench. We went to Tanglin together with Chunxiang to eat, and only after he finished his meal ( and I finished his vanilla coke :P ) had he realised he had misplaced his camera. We went back to school, and luckily matt had his camera.
Oh, and I got to carry Ben's trophy for a while. :D ( Ben received the Goh Sin Tub trophy for being 1st in English for sec 3 FYE)
The rest of the day was same old same old. :P

Today, there was a special commissioning ceremony for our batch of would-be confirmants. During mass the congregation prayed for us, and we received a candle and salt, which symbolised that we were , well, the salt and fire of the earth.
Tomorrow's fondl.. i mean Founder's day. Many friends will be receiving academic and sports prizes. And they'll be singing *my* song too! :)
Here I am, eve of Chinese MYE, blogging when i should be mugging. oh well, i am what i am. :D
The English Exam today was kinda okay. The Compo title was something we kinda did before. So I did that title. Another topic was given to us as homework a few months ago. Coincidence ...
The compre on the other hand, was rather spiffy. There were a few difficult vocabulary questions, and the summary was a challenge.
Pontoons. Borscht. Paddle. bucked like a mustang. popped out of the channel. the big doughnuts.
Hmmm. All that from our compre passage. Interesting.

The English Oral Exam yesterday wasn't that bad, except for the fact that the examiner was fiddling with his water bottle and handphone while I was speaking. :( But I think I did pretty well, comparing to my previous standards.
Gaius dislocated his finger yesterday while playing Handball. He's okay i guess, and his little cast thingy is coming off on friday.
Today was a normal day. The whole back portion of the class was throwing paper balls at each other during English class. It all started when Weiqi threw one at me for no reason. Soon, a lot of people joined in when Yangwei suddenly turned around and told us all to stop it. So we stopped. :O At the same time, about a quarter of the class was sleeping. All this while Mrs Fam was still in the class. horrors.

I am having my English Oral Exam tomorrow. I tend to freeze up during Oral Exams, but I won't this time. I feel so much better prepared than normal. I'm gonna wing it.
While we are on the topic of English, isn't it a weird language? How come a 14th ( i think) century bard who spends his life writing plays and sipping tea is called Shakespeare? How about the zulu warrior who goes out hunting everyday? I figure he does more speare-shaking than shakespeare to at least be acredited with the name.
And what's all this about Bold words? Are they really more daring than other words?
Did Italics originate in Italy?
Absurd* Language ...
* what about Absurd? Is it an Abnormal surd? like square root of 7.5 ?
Do you think I should raise these few points tomorrow??

Did quite a bit today. Organised and filed the whole pile of worksheets and notes that have accumulated since the start of the year. Ha! Becoming quite a habit... wait for one week before the exams and then file everything.. :P
My buddy Gerard got busted up today by mindless idiots. view Life in Retrospect for more details. The ironic thing is that he was barely 10 metres from a police post, and they managed to get top a bus stop, and take a bus away. :$
Gonna tape the repeat of Wrestlemani XIX later on! harhar. What? exams coming up? so? Get your priorities straight man! Wrestlemania is so much more important than exams!!!!
If you have not noticed( i.e. If you are blind) the Huge thingy at the left column of this page, there is my recommendation for you to download a few mp3s that I find good. And please, trust my judgment and i (hope) you will enjoy these songs!
